How to fix "Windows Installer Service couldn't be started" error when you install a program?

You may receive this message when you install, uninstall, or update a program. You can perform the following to try to fix the issue.

1. Run the "Fix problems that programs cannot be installed or uninstalled" troubleshooter

2. Make sure that the Windows Installer service is not set to Disabled

• Click the Start Menu, type services.msc in the Search box or click Run then type services.msc in the dialog, and then press Enter to open Services.
• Right-click Windows Installer, and then click Properties.
• If the Startup type box is set to Disabled, change it to Manual.
• Click OK to close the Properties window.
• Right-click the Windows Installer service, and then click Start. The service should start without errors.
• Try to install or to uninstall again.
